Indeed Bob, this will not fix an alarm that does not go off at all. This fix is specifically dealing with when the alarm triggers but doesn't make the alarm sound.

If you're having issues with the alarm not triggering at all, then that is another problem entirely.

Fortunately I've not encountered the problem you describe, yet, but I can imagine it's incredibly frustrating, especially if it's something that Google has to fix and you can do nothing about

this will not work all the time. trust me, i've tried all the "fixes". until google fix the firmware to speak with the hardware properly, the software clock pauses/switches off after a period of time in standby mode. this makes it "miss" the clock and so the alarm doesn't spring. alarm going off and not making a sound/vibrating is a minor issue compared to alarm not going off at all...

Thanks a lot !

Worked for me as well on a HTC Magic, Android 1.5, HTC Sense software update.

The very first unlogic user interface discovered so far at this Android phone. Else it´s very intuitive - I have never read a tutorial or anything else - I just started to use it and this is the first thing I didn´t found out just by using the phone. Seems like there should be an alarm sound level setpoint slider available within the alarm settings menu instead of using the button on the side of the phone. At least for me it´s not very logic to use the physical button for this.

Yea, this assignment was worth 80% of my strategy module for the management part of my course.

I don't really have time for much "fun" writing, hence why there's so few posts on this blog

Jesus this is deep, far above the value of work I'm doing. I hope this was part of a assignment and not just for "fun".
